Fire Element
The birth dance reflected in the pelvis. Glowing embers calming mother and baby into quiet slumber until, with pelvis circling, she gently stokes her fire; a preparation for what lies ahead as she arms herself in readiness for the birthing process with all its intensity and spirit.
The raging fire fuelled by hormones enabling each woman to draw upon her strength as she enters the spiritual doorway into motherhood. No longer a little girl but with the makings of woman she spits and sparks with her own story.
The fire symbolises each new birth experience for every single woman on this Earth sweeping from country to country, continent to continent. A raging fire burning wild across the globe regardless of our colour, creed or religion. All women burning as this great Universal fire. Middle Eastern Birth Dance burning from within.
Breath blown upon charcoal - sparks gently spreading like the intoxicating music of the nay. Labour progressing in rhythm - each with an original tune and tempo - inviting the mother to be to add wood to her fire, observe the smoke rising and so consciously prepare to focus upon each moment as it unfolds before her.
Water Element
By nature our physical being lives in a fluid state composed of water. Mother, in dreams, submerged in cool ocean waters feeling buoyant and nurtured by its expansive spirit. The embryonic sack within protecting the foetus as it lies bathing in its mothers warm waters, protected from the outside world; as innocent as sweet pomegranate nectar. Middle Eastern Birth Dance trickling like a tear drop or shimmying like an ocean to the shore.
To be birthed into water, swimming face down, then rolling, floating, content, facing up to gaze at mother and father through the glassy liquid that divides each, but only for a brief pause. Hands of mother scooping down in to this watery world raising baby wet and dripping in to the arms of love, the dancing arms raised proudly heavenward beckoning all our worlds with harmonious pleasure. Snuggled against mothers beating heart, the chest with breasts radiating full for sweet mouth to grasp and suck, from warm to warmth, there is no place like home.
Air Element
The veil, like the dancing arms, floats from the heavens down to the earth connecting both through its gentle sway. Feeling the swish of air dancing into the light all around mother to be. Draped in the birthing veil, a cloak of mystique and beauty, revealed as Mother opens her golden gateway to dance this sacred birth dance of revelation and inspiration.
Air the oxygen: our first inhalation as we enter life on this Earth. Children like oxygen their lifeblood sustaining ours. Breath whispered voices welcoming baby into our world breathing in unison gently calmly in soft, shadowy light, unabrasive birth, honoured life.
Earth Element

Affixed to the earth and anchored by one's precious feet, the birth dance symbolises all that is strong and confident in the pregnant and labouring woman... Universal mother finding her place upon this Mother Earth, in harmony with her breath, her birthing rhythm, standing firm on rich soil to nourish herself and her family. The Earth; the stronghold of a Mothers labouring energy - her attraction to it is perfect.
